Dornier Do 17 A German light bomber produced during WW2 by Dornier Flugzeugwerke. It was designed as a fast bomber, a light bomber which, in theory, would be fast enough to outrun defending fighter aircraft. Sometimes referred to as the 'flying pencil'.3
Dornier Do 215 A light bomber, aerial reconnaissance aircraft and later a night fighter. Like its predecessor, the Dornier Do 17, it inherited the title 'The Flying Pencil' because of its slim fuselage.4
Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger A German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed in the late 1930s and widely used during WW2. It could be used as a day fighter, fighter-bomber, ground-attack aircraft and, to a lesser degree, night fighter.2
Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor A German all-metal four-engined monoplane that saw service with the Luftwaffe as a long-range reconnaissance and anti-shipping/maritime patrol bomber aircraft. It achieved great success prior to the advent of long-range RAF Coastal Command aircraft and catapult aircraft merchant ships.5
Heinkel He 111 A German aircraft designed by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke as a fast medium bomber and was the most numerous Luftwaffe bomber during the early stages of WW2.4
Heinkel He 113 A fictitious German fighter aircraft of WW2, invented as a propaganda and disinformation exercise. It was a Heinkel He 100 D-1 that was published in the press with the He 113 name, fooling British Intelligence at the time.2
Heinkel He 115 A WW2 German seaplane with three seats. It was used as a torpedo bomber and general seaplane duties, such as reconnaissance and minelaying. Also used by the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service.4
Junkers Ju 52 A German trimotor transport aircraft manufactured from 1931 to 1952 designed initially with a single engine but subsequently produced as a trimotor. It saw both civilian and military service during the 1930s and 1940s.2
Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka A two-man German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft (pilot and rear gunner).7
Junkers Ju 88 A German twin-engined multirole combat aircraft with versions acting as dive-bomber, fighter and fighter-bomber.9
Messerschmitt Bf 109 A German fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt and Robert Lusser. It was the backbone of the Luftwaffe’s WW2 fighter force and the most produced fighter in history.10
Messerschmitt Bf 110 A twin-engine heavy fighter and fighter-bomber developed in Germany in the 1930s and used by the Luftwaffe and others during WW2.7
