Description A British Army officer who was awarded the Military Cross and two Bars while serving in the Machine Gun Corps during WW1. In WW2 he commanded the 1st Parachute Brigade in North Africa getting a Distinguished Service Order and the 6th Airlanding Brigade in Normandy, before becoming Deputy Chief of Staff HQ First Allied Airborne Army. He was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Middlesex in 1948 and later became chairman of the County of Middlesex Territorial Army Association.
