Description |
An airborne officer of the British Army During WW2 who commanded B Troop, 1st Parachute Squadron of the Royal Engineers. He was active building roads in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and winning the Military Cross in North Africa after a reconnaissance behind the enemy lines. He was later captured at Arnhem after being one of the few to reach the bridge and a prisoner of war in Lower Saxony until 1945. A post war engineering career was sadly cut short when he was killed in an accident in St Albans on a special De Havilland civil flight on behalf of Plascom/Tarmac Ltd that crashed on the M1 under construction. |
