Description |
A British Army officer who first came to attention as a Polar explorer in Greenland. In WW2 he served in a staff appointment during the Norwegian campaign and wrote a critical and influential report known as the 'Lindsay Memorandum' on the Norwegian failure. He was later appointed second-in-command of the 1st Battalion The Gordon Highlanders, in the 51st Highland Division. Immediately after the war he went into politics and served as a Member of Parliament for nearly two decades. |
