Name Young, Peter George Francis
Description A British Army officer who was commissioned into the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in 1932 and joined the 1st Airborne Division in 1941 where he took part in the Sicily landings where he was taken prisoner until 1944. He later commanded the 16th Parachute Battalion and then became Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster General of the 6th Airborne Division in Palestine. He was the first commander of 44 Independent Parachute Brigade, 1955-1958 and General Officer Commanding Cyprus from 1962-64, when he was involved in the drawing up of a truce line between the warring Greek and Cypriot communities.
