Description A British Army soldier who enlisted in the East Lancashire Regiment and later volunteered for airborne forces and was posted to B Squadron, The Glider Pilot Regiment. He took part in Operation Overlord and Market Garden and was awarded the D.F.M. for landing his glider within 50 yards of the Merville Battery on D-Day. He died of wounds at Arnhem in the Regimental Aid Post at the Ter Horst house in Oosterbeek.
