Name Otway, Terence Brandram Hastings
Description A British Army Officer who was commissioned into the Royal Ulster Rifles in 1934 and helped it convert to an airborne role in 1940. After holding various staff officer roles he rejoined RUR in July 1943 as a Company Commander and then the 9th Battalion The Parachute Regiment as second-in-command. He commanded the Battalion by D-Day and carried out the operation to put the Merville Battery out of action in support of the Sword beach landings. Later commands included the 15th Battalion the Parachute Regiment, Chief of Staff Indian Airborne Division and he was awarded the Legion d’Honneur in 2001.
