Name McGee, Michael John
Description A British Army soldier who served with 7th Parachute Battalion, and took part in the Normandy campaign, during Operation Overlord. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his action in Benouville by engaging a Panther tank at point blank range with his Sten gun firing from the hip, causing it to stop at a point when his comrades put it out of action with a hand bomb. He was largely responsible for the successful action fought by his company but died later on the same day.
