Description A British Army officer who was commissioned in the Royal Corps of Engineers in 1939. He was part of the 253rd Field Company, R.E. in the France and Flanders Campaign’s and evacuated from Dunkirk. After being posted to 103rd Army Troops Company, R.E., he joined the airborne forces in 1st Air Troop, R.E. He Commanded the 1st Parachute Squadron R.E., 1st Parachute Brigade throughout the North African campaign, the operation to capture the Primosole Bridge in Sicily, the operation 'Slapstick' landings at the Italian port of Taranto and Arnhem. For his action in the North African Campaign, he was awarded the Military Cross.
