Name Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding)
Description A line infantry regiment of the British Army, originally, the 33rd (or First Yorkshire West Riding) Regiment, it was renamed in 1853 the 33rd (or The Duke of Wellington’s) Regiment and later became the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment. The 'Dukes' fought with the BEF in 1940 (part of the rearguard at Dunkirk) and also in the North Africa Campaign and Italian Campaigns.
