DescriptionThis book describes the actions of Bomber Command during the period between July 1941 and June 1942. It starts by providing human stories of real raids and the real efforts expended by aircraft factories in the home front. Activities after the entry of the Russians into the war include support for the Battle of the Atlantic with the flee of the 'Scharnhorst/Gneisenau' from Brest and the attacks on the Wilhelmshaven and Emden naval bases. Further activity in support of Russia is described including the raids on Augsburg, Berlin, Herdla and Poissy. Great effort in described in the preparations of the British factories for the enormous 1000 bomber raids that were to come. The raids on Cologne are described and the expected damage to the morale of the German people as a consequence.
